‘1,000-Lb. Sisters’ star Amy Slaton arrested on drug, child endangerment charges
The 1,000-Lb. Sisters star was arrested at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo after authorities said they smelled “suspicious odors” emanating from a vehicle.
Reality TV star Amy Slaton was charged on Monday with drug possession and child endangerment following an incident at a zoo in Tennessee.
The 1,000-Lb. Sisters star was arrested at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo after authorities reported detecting "suspicious odors" coming from a vehicle.
Slaton, 36, was taken into custody along with a man named Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was with her in the car. Both face charges of illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs, as well as two counts of child endangerment.
The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department stated on Facebook that officers were initially called to the zoo after a guest was reportedly bitten by a camel. The identity of the bitten visitor was not disclosed by the police.
As of now, neither Slaton nor Lovvorn have publicly commented on their arrests.
The sheriff’s department emphasized that the charges against Slaton and Lovvorn "are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence."
"The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law," the statement added.
Both Slaton and Lovvorn were booked into the Crockett County Jail.
Slaton gained fame through the TLC show 1,000-Lb. Sisters, which documented her and her sister Tammy's weight loss journey. Last year, Slaton announced her divorce from her husband, Michael Halterman, with whom she shares two sons, aged 4 and 2.
