2 injured after vehicle, train collide in Longueuil

Two individuals sustained injuries after a vehicle collided with a CN merchandise train in Longueuil, located on Montreal's South Shore, early Monday morning.
The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Guimond Boulevard and de la Métropole Street, according to Longueuil police (SPAL), who responded to a 911 call.
The driver, a man in his 20s, initially fled the scene but later returned to the vehicle. He was subsequently arrested for fleeing the scene and impaired driving, said Melanie Mercille, a spokesperson for the Longueuil police. The passenger, a woman in her 20s, remained in the car.
Both individuals sustained injuries, but their condition is not life-threatening.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid the area as investigators continue their work.
