2 people in critical condition after reported shooting in northeast Calgary
Police are investigating early morning Saddle Ridge incident
A man and a woman were rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Tuesday morning following an apparent shooting in northeast Calgary.
The Calgary Police Service (CPS) responded to reports of the shooting in Saddle Ridge around 5:45 a.m. Officers arrived at the 0 to 100 block of Saddlelake Green N.E., where they discovered the two victims suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
According to investigators, it is believed that the man and woman were leaving their home and getting into a car when a suspect approached them and opened fire. The suspect then fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV, police said.
The CPS continues to investigate the incident. The conditions of the victims have since been upgraded to stable. Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack.
