3 charged in One Direction singer Liam Payne’s death
The 31-year-old’s death shocked the world, and raised questions about how he had fallen.
Three individuals have been charged in connection with the death of One Direction singer Liam Payne, who tragically fell from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month, according to Argentine authorities on Thursday.
The 31-year-old's sudden death shocked fans worldwide and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his fall. A 911 call made by a hotel employee on the day of Payne’s death indicated that he had been acting aggressively and may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time.
An autopsy confirmed the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in Payne's system when he died, as stated by the prosecutor’s office.
The individuals charged in the case include a suspected drug dealer, a hotel employee who may have supplied Payne with cocaine, and someone close to the singer. All three are accused of being involved in providing Payne with the drugs. Additionally, the person who was with Payne at the time of his death faces charges of "abandonment of a person followed by death," according to authorities.
The identities of those charged have not been disclosed.
