3 Metro stations on Montreal's Blue line could be closed for weeks for safety issues
Shuttle will run between Jean-Talon and Saint-Michel Metro stations
The easternmost stops on the Blue Line could stay closed for several weeks, according to Société de transport de Montréal (STM) CEO, Marie-Claude Léonard.
On Thursday evening, Montreal's public transit authority announced the indefinite closure of three Metro stations on the Blue Line—Fabre, d'Iberville, and Saint-Michel—due to safety concerns.
The STM revealed that ongoing work at Saint-Michel station uncovered severe deterioration of main beams above the walkway after an engineering assessment.
"Because of the location of track equipment needed for train turnarounds, Fabre and d'Iberville stations must also be closed," the STM explained.
During a Friday morning press conference, Léonard said engineering teams were investigating the issue. She also confirmed a shuttle bus service would operate between Jean-Talon and Saint-Michel stations, making stops at each station.
"We're fully aware and regret the inconvenience this causes for our customers, but safety is our top priority," Léonard stated.
