In Langley, a pedestrian suffered critical injuries after being hit by a commercial vehicle on Fraser Highway at 264th Street just before 6:30 a.m. Langley RCMP Corp.
Zynal Sharoom confirmed that the injured pedestrian was transported to a local hospital. The collision's investigation is ongoing, with the province’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement Unit also attending the scene.
The weather, described by Environment and Climate Change Canada as a "potent" storm, is believed to be a contributing factor. Sharoom urged drivers to avoid the area and reminded pedestrians and cyclists to wear reflective clothing for better visibility.
Simultaneously, a second pedestrian was struck in Delta around the same time, at 84 Avenue and 116 Street. The incident resulted in the closure of the intersection in all directions. Delta Police Department’s Acting Insp.
James Sandberg indicated that environmental conditions, including darkness and inclement weather, may have impacted visibility. The injured pedestrian was taken to the hospital, and the driver remained on the scene to assist with the investigation.
