4 Girls accused of starting a home fire in Oshawa that damaged over $2 million
On October 27, police arrested the four female youths from Oshawa, consisting of one 12-year-old, two 15-year-olds, and a 16-year-old.
Four girls, including a 12-year-old, are facing charges for their alleged involvement in an arson incident at a home in Oshawa, which caused over $2 million in damages.
Durham Regional Police reported that they responded to the fire on October 6, 2024, in the vicinity of Eddystone Path and Okanagan Path. Fortunately, all occupants of the residence were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, police determined that the fire had been intentionally set, classifying it as arson. The damage affected multiple homes, totaling more than $2 million.

Three of the girls were charged with arson with disregard for human life, mischief under $5,000, and intimidation by threats of violence. One of the 15-year-olds faced charges for arson with disregard for human life and mischief under $5,000.
The girls were held for a bail hearing and were not publicly identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Authorities are urging anyone with cell phone, dashcam, or surveillance footage related to the incident, or any additional information, to come forward and contact the investigators.
