AGLC grants Camrose Casino's request to relocate to Edmonton
The decision was made after "careful consideration," during which both support and objections to the move were heard.
The Alberta Gaming Liquor Cannabis (AGLC) Board has announced that a casino in Camrose will be relocating to Edmonton.
The decision was made after "careful consideration," during which both support and objections to the move were heard.
A significant reason for the relocation is to optimize returns for rural charities through Edmonton and rural charitable gaming pools. According to the AGLC, moving the Camrose Casino to Edmonton will benefit rural charities while having minimal impact on those already benefiting from the Edmonton pool.
Additionally, the casino's move is expected to generate new jobs in Edmonton and increase revenue for the province.
However, before the relocation can occur, the casino owners must complete several steps, including securing land use permits, zoning, and development approvals, constructing the new facility, and ensuring compliance with all federal, provincial, and municipal regulations before receiving a casino facility licence from the AGLC.
