Mounties in Yukon report that specialized police divers have yet to locate an American man who went missing after the truck he was in plunged into the Yukon River.

According to the RCMP, the incident occurred on Monday when a pickup truck towing a trailer went off the Lewes River Bridge, south of Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway.

Both men involved were from Phoenix, Arizona. One of them managed to escape the wreck and received medical treatment, but the second man remains missing.

Extensive search efforts have been conducted in the river, but divers from the British Columbia RCMP’s underwater recovery team were unable to find the missing man on Wednesday.

The search efforts are ongoing.
