Final Results of 2024 BC Election to be Announced Monday
Nine days after election day, British Columbians will learn the final outcome of the 2024 provincial election.
Elections BC announced that the vote count will conclude on Monday, with absentee ballots being the last to be tallied, starting Monday morning.
On Sunday, officials counted mail-in and assisted telephone ballots, but neither party reached the 47 seats needed for a majority.
The closest of the three ridings still in play is Surrey-Guildford, where the BC Conservatives currently lead by just 12 votes. With approximately 226 absentee and special ballots yet to be counted, a shift in Surrey-Guildford’s outcome could hand David Eby’s New Democrats a razor-thin majority.
The seat tally currently stands at 46 for the NDP, 45 for the BC Conservatives, and two for the BC Greens.
Elections BC stated that counting the more than 22,000 outstanding absentee and special ballots will begin at 9 a.m. Monday. Results will be posted on the Elections BC website with hourly updates as the process advances.
