Baby’s death prompts investigation by Quebec provincial police

Quebec provincial police are investigating the death of a three-month-old baby in Saguenay, Quebec, located north of Quebec City.

On Sunday, local police responded to a call at a residence in the La Baie borough, where they discovered the baby unconscious.

The infant was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Quebec provincial police have been brought in to work on the investigation alongside Saguenay police.

A provincial police spokesperson declined to specify who contacted authorities, noting that it is too early to determine if any charges will be laid.

An autopsy and further analysis will be conducted to establish the cause and circumstances of the death.
