Bon Jovi talks woman off bridge ledge in Nashville

Police in Nashville have commended rockstar Jon Bon Jovi for assisting in talking a distressed woman off the ledge of a bridge on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge and was captured by surveillance cameras. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department later shared the footage online. In the video, Bon Jovi and another individual are seen walking across the Cumberland River when they spot a woman in a blue T-shirt clinging to the opposite side of the bridge's guardrail.

Both Bon Jovi and his companion remain calm as they approach and speak to the woman. The video, which lacks audio, doesn't reveal what the Livin' On A Prayer singer said to her.

After nearly a minute, Bon Jovi and the other person assist the woman in climbing back over the guardrail. Bon Jovi then embraces her and continues talking to her. They are soon joined by others as they walk back across the bridge together.

On X (formerly Twitter), the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department praised Bon Jovi and his team, stating that he "helped persuade" the woman to step away from the ledge and return to safety.

Bon Jovi has not made any public remarks about the event.

Nashville police chief John Drake acknowledged the collective effort, stating, "It takes all of us to help keep each other safe." A police spokesperson told CNN that the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Earlier in the day, Bon Jovi had been spotted filming what appeared to be a music video on the bridge.

The video shared by police quickly gained attention online, with fans expressing their admiration. One called Bon Jovi the "greatest rock star in the world and now hero."

Another commenter shared that the video brought them to tears, adding, "In a time of such division and hardship, I can truly feel the love in his actions. A beautiful example of empathy and kindness."

Another remarked, "We’re all living on a prayer, to one degree or another."
