Calgary Flames re-sign centre Cole Schwindt, defenceman Ilya Solovyov
Schwindt signed a one-year, two-way contract with an average annual value of $800,000 at the NHL level.
The Calgary Flames have re-signed defenseman Ilya Solovyov and center Cole Schwindt, the NHL team announced on Wednesday.
Solovyov agreed to a two-year contract, with the first year being a two-way deal and the second year a one-way deal. The contract carries an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level.
Schwindt signed a one-year, two-way contract, with an average annual value of $800,000 at the NHL level.
Solovyov, 24, from Mogilev, Belarus, made his NHL debut last season, recording three assists in 10 games with the Flames. In the AHL, he tallied five goals and 10 assists in 51 games with the Calgary Wranglers and added one goal in six Calder Cup playoff games.
Schwindt, a 23-year-old from Kitchener, Ontario, also made his debut with the Flames last season, appearing in four games. He recorded 14 goals and 22 assists in 66 regular-season games with the Wranglers and led the team with four goals, including a game-winner, during the playoffs.
Originally drafted by the Florida Panthers in the third round, 81st overall, in the 2019 NHL draft, Schwindt was traded to Calgary in July 2022, along with forward Jonathan Huberdeau and defenseman MacKenzie Weegar, as part of the deal that sent star forward Matthew Tkachuk to Florida.
