Collège de Valleyfield closed on Friday after employee attacked
Police arrested a suspect on the scene
The Collège de Valleyfield's main campus and library will remain closed all day Friday after an employee was attacked with a knife. Police arrested a suspect at the scene.
Sûreté du Québec officers responded to the incident at around 6:15 a.m. The injured employee was taken to the hospital, but her life is not in danger.
According to a police news release, the suspect was also hospitalized for "treatment appropriate to his condition." Authorities plan to question him once his condition allows.
Firefighters were also present at the scene. A security perimeter has been established, and police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the attack.
