Community primary care clinic program now includes more pharmacies

The province announced an expansion to the Community Pharmacy Primary Care Clinic program.

Alison Bodnar with the Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia says people can access lots of services through pharmacies.
“Things like prescription renewals, urinary tract infection (UTI) assessment and contraception management, but they’ll also be able to book appointments for things like common ailments, pink eye, eczema, allergies, chronic health conditions, including the prescribing of medication and the order of all necessary tests,” Bodnar said.
Seven of the new locations are in the Halifax area:
Boyd’s Pharmacy, 2525 Agricola St., Halifax
Lawtons Pharmacy Clinic Scotia Square, 5201 Duke St., Halifax
Chaulks Family Pharmasave, 366 Lacewood Dr., Halifax
Shoppers Drug Mart, 315 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield
Hammonds Plains PharmaChoice, 2120 Hammonds Plains Rd., Hammonds Plains
Shoppers Drug Mart, 4 Forest Hills Parkway, Dartmouth
The Passage PharmaChoice, 6 Cow Bay Rd., Eastern Passage
The province is investing about $440,000 this year to expand the pilot to 14 more sites.
