Conan O'Brien tapped to host the 2025 Oscars
The TV funnyman will host the Academy Awards in March for the first time
A year after choosing comedian Jimmy Kimmel to host the Academy Awards, the event will welcome another familiar TV personality — Conan O'Brien.
"America demanded it and now it's happening: Taco Bell's new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I'm hosting the Oscars," O'Brien joked in a statement on Friday.
This will mark O'Brien's first time hosting the Oscars, though he has emceed other major award shows, including the Emmy Awards in 2002 and 2006, and the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 1995 and 2013.
The Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC on March 2.
O'Brien is widely recognized for hosting late-night talk shows such as Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, and Conan.
Before his television hosting career, O'Brien wrote for Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons.
He joins a distinguished group of past Oscar hosts, including Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Hugh Jackman, and Neil Patrick Harris.
"He joins an iconic roster of comedy greats who have served in this role, and we are so lucky to have him centre stage for the Oscars," said Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group.
