Discovering cultural events in Quebec is made easier with a new website
La Vitrine also offers Quebec organizations and artists the chance to post their events free of charge, ensuring greater exposure.
La Vitrine was launched on Tuesday as a new platform designed to connect Quebecers with their ideal cultural outings based on their tastes, mood, and location.
The goal of this non-profit initiative is to rekindle enthusiasm for cultural activities and encourage exploration of various regions across the province.
The platform utilizes digital tools to promote cultural events, improving the visibility and accessibility of Quebec’s rich cultural landscape.
According to Monique Simard, president of La Vitrine’s board of directors, the platform serves as a cultural “matchmaker,” connecting people with events while ensuring fair prices by redirecting audiences to official local box offices.
For example, if you're a theatre enthusiast in Sherbrooke or a music lover in Gatineau, La Vitrine helps match you with relevant experiences, fostering greater participation in cultural activities.
Culture and Communications Minister Mathieu Lacombe highlighted that the project is a part of Quebec's Digital Cultural Plan, aiming to promote French-speaking Quebecers’ artistry, as well as the culture of First Nations and Inuit.
The platform was introduced in Montreal, and users are encouraged to create an account and offer feedback for continuous improvement.
La Vitrine also offers Quebec organizations and artists the chance to post their events free of charge, ensuring greater exposure.
General manager Kathia St-Jean emphasized the importance of public involvement in shaping the platform, noting that it will be regularly updated based on user input.
To represent the platform, La Vitrine has appointed two ambassadors: former actress Guylaine Tremblay and director/actor Mani Soleymanlou.
