Driver fatally injured in a head-on crash north of Madoc
Police said in a news release Monday that a 74-year-old man from Stirling, located north of Belleville, was declared deceased at the scene while driving one of the trucks.
A fatal head-on collision occurred between two pickup trucks north of Madoc on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of one person.
The collision took place on Highway 62 just past 1 p.m., as reported by the Ontario Provincial Police. They had shared on X about an accident located to the north of Bannockburn Road.

Police reported that a 68-year-old passenger was quickly taken to the hospital with severe injuries, as was a 58-year-old passenger in the second truck.
The 64-year-old man driving the second truck was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The road was shut down for a few hours and authorities mentioned they are still looking into the matter.
Madoc is located in Centre Hastings, approximately 40 kilometers to the north of Belleville.
