Eastbound Gardiner reduced to a lane between Dufferin and Strachan overnight
Despite the closure, the two westbound lanes will remain open.
Heads up for commuters on the eastbound Gardiner Expressway in Toronto — overnight lane reductions are set to take effect this week.
From 10 p.m. on Wednesday until 5 a.m. on Thursday, the eastbound lanes will be further restricted to just one lane from Dufferin Street to Strachan Avenue.
This is in addition to the current two-lane reduction in both directions as part of a long-term construction plan.
The lane closures are necessary for crews to work on "barrier relocation and adjustments to traffic control."
Despite the closure, the two westbound lanes will remain open.
The ongoing work involves replacing 700 meters of the roadway’s structure between Dufferin and Strachan, part of a six-phase rehabilitation project approved by Toronto's City Council between 2014 and 2016.
The construction is progressing ahead of schedule, with the work now expected to finish by April 2026, a year earlier than originally planned, thanks to a $73 million investment from the Ontario government to speed up repairs.
