Female tourist brutally beaten near Vancouver cruise ship terminal
Vancouver police arrest man after 35-year-old victim taken to hospital with injuries
A female tourist was violently attacked near the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place on Sunday morning.
Sgt. Steve Addison of the Vancouver Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 9 a.m. on October 13.
He stated that the 35-year-old visitor was walking close to the cruise ship terminal when she was assaulted by an unknown assailant.
“She was repeatedly punched and kicked in the face and sustained multiple injuries that required medical attention at the hospital,” Addison explained. “The suspect and victim were strangers and had no prior interactions before the attack.”
Bystanders who contacted the police provided sufficient evidence, including video footage, which led officers to a residential building near East Pender and Columbia streets. There, a suspect was apprehended around 12:30 p.m. with the assistance of a police dog.
Massimo Rosario Falvo, 40, has been charged with assault and is currently in custody.
Court records indicate that Falvo assaulted someone in Vancouver on November 3, 2023, and has made 15 court appearances since that incident, excluding the latest charge.
