Ferry service between Nova Scotia, P.E.I. won’t resume until at least Oct. 19
Ferry service between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia has been delayed until Oct. 19.
Ferry service between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia has been postponed until October 19.
Northumberland Ferries announced today that the MV Saaremaa is still experiencing engine issues and is not yet ready to resume its service between Caribou, N.S., and Wood Islands, P.E.I.
The company anticipates that the ferry will be operational by October 19, pending additional inspections and certifications.
Additionally, Northumberland stated that the MV Confederation, which also operates on the same route, won’t be available for service until at least December 9.
Ferry services between the two provinces were halted last week when the MV Saaremaa encountered technical problems. This occurred shortly after the MV Confederation crashed into a wharf and was taken out of service.
Northumberland Ferries said they reached out to other ferry operators to see if alternative vessels could temporarily take over the route, but no ships were available.
