No injuries have been reported following a fire in Lowertown early Wednesday morning.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a multi-unit residential low-rise on Nelson Street, located between Clarence and York streets, shortly after 3:30 a.m. on September 11.

A 9-1-1 caller had reported visible flames from the second floor of the building. When firefighters arrived, flames were also visible at the back of the structure.

A working fire was declared at 3:40 a.m. to call in additional resources, and firefighters began an aggressive attack on the blaze.

Firefighters conducted two thorough searches of the building and found no occupants inside. The fire was declared under control at 4:39 a.m. The extent of the damage is not yet known.

A fire investigator is now working to determine the cause of the fire.
