Former Calgary city councillor Jeff Davison announces bid for mayor
Davison made the announcement Thursday morning. With the election still one year away, Davison said there is no time to spare in restoring vision and leadership in Calgary.
Former Calgary city councillor Jeff Davison has declared his candidacy for mayor in the upcoming municipal election next year.
Davison announced his intentions Thursday morning, emphasizing that there is no time to waste in restoring vision and leadership in Calgary with the election still a year away.
“Calgarians have said they have had it with this city council,” Davison remarked. “They are mad at their horrible decision-making and inability to work together. They don’t trust them.”
He outlined three primary issues he will focus on: affordability, infrastructure, and public safety. If elected, Davison plans to freeze property taxes at 2025 levels for four years.
“This campaign will put Calgarians back in the driver’s seat — telling their city council what they want rather than being told by council how you should live,” Davison stated. “Calgarians deserve to be listened to. I will make sure you are heard.”
Davison served on the city council from 2017 to 2021 and ran for mayor in 2021 but was defeated by Mayor Jyoti Gondek.
Currently, Davison is the CEO of the Prostate Cancer Centre, a charity based in Alberta that helps men navigate prostate cancer.
He is married and has three children.
The next municipal election is set for the fall of 2025.
