Glen Powell is not here for attempts to create a rivalry between him and Ryan Gosling.

On Tuesday, Powell addressed a report from The Wrap that cited an unnamed Hollywood producer who described him as “most definitely an up-and-coming movie star,” but also made a side comment about Gosling, noting that Powell appeals to both female and male audiences, unlike Gosling.

Powell responded with a playful nod to Gosling’s acclaimed role as Ken in the 2023 hit “Barbie,” which grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide and received widespread praise.

“Gosling is a legend. I’m just Glen,” Powell wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

By Wednesday morning, Powell’s tweet had garnered over 358,000 likes and many positive comments from fans.

One fan commented, “I have a man crush on both Glen and Ryan, so I’m not sure who wrote this article, but they’re wrong. We love both of them. And they should be in a buddy cop movie together.”

Another added, “Two great people can coexist. Commendable standing up for Ryan.”

Regardless of any comparisons, Powell’s star has been rising rapidly over the past year, thanks to standout roles in “Anyone but You,” “Hit Man,” and this summer’s blockbuster “Twisters.”

Critics have even suggested he could be the next Tom Cruise, with whom he starred in “Top Gun: Maverick.”

“You’ve got Glen Powell and [Timothée] Chalamet ushering in a new talent base of bankable stars,” analyst Jeff Bock told Variety in March. “That’s wonderful for audiences, but even more so, a massive relief for the industry, which has been relying on aging talent for far too long.”

Powell recently wrapped filming on the thriller “Huntington,” alongside Ed Harris and Margaret Qualley, and is also set to star in the upcoming Hulu series “Chad Powers” and a new adaptation of Stephen King’s 1982 novel “The Running Man.”
