Harris is endorsed by Taylor Swift in a post titled "Childless Cat Lady"
In her post, Swift explained, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president shortly after the conclusion of Tuesday night's presidential debate between Harris and Donald Trump.
Swift's endorsement came through an Instagram post, signed "Childless Cat Lady," a reference to comments made by Trump’s vice-presidential nominee, JD Vance.
In her post, Swift explained, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
She praised Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and expressed her belief that the country could achieve much more under calm leadership rather than chaos.
The post featured a photo of Swift with a cat, and her "Childless Cat Lady" remark was a nod to Vance’s 2021 comments, where he disparaged several prominent Democrats, including Harris, as “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”
Vance has since claimed his comments were made sarcastically.
Swift also commended Harris's vice-presidential pick, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, for his long-standing advocacy on LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s reproductive rights.
Swift’s decision to publicly reveal her voting choice was partly influenced by a misleading AI-generated image of her endorsing Trump that appeared on his website.
She said, “It really conjured up my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” leading her to be transparent about her actual voting plans.
Trump responded to Swift’s endorsement by telling Fox News that he was "not a Taylor Swift fan," labeling her as "very liberal" and predicting she would "pay the price for it in the marketplace."
