Horrific incident involving TTC buses in midtown Toronto resulted in several injuries
Toronto Fire Services confirmed they were called to the intersection for a vehicle fire, and the driver was pulled from the burning car by a TTC bus driver.
A man is in critical condition following a fiery crash involving a suspected stolen vehicle and two TTC buses in midtown Toronto.
Toronto Paramedic Services responded to the scene near Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to police, a Honda traveling eastbound on Eglinton at high speed collided with a northbound TTC bus with such force that it caused the bus to crash into a second TTC bus. The Honda then caught fire.
Emergency services reported that a man in his 20s was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, which later became life-threatening, according to Toronto police.
One bus driver and two passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while a second bus driver was assessed at the scene, police said.
Police also informed 680 NewsRadio that the driver of the Honda is believed to have run a red light before hitting the TTC bus. Photos from the crash site show both buses heavily damaged.

A TTC spokesperson stated that officials are working with authorities on the investigation.
"One of the TTC operators and two bus customers have been taken to the hospital, while the second operator and other customers were treated at the scene. We don’t have any information on the vehicle driver or the cause of the accident at this time. Our thoughts are with those injured," read a statement on X.
The intersection remains closed for cleanup as the investigation continues.
