In the sexual assault trial of Jacob Hoggard, the crown attorneys present their case

Crown prosecutors have initiated their case in Canadian musician Jacob Hoggard's sexual assault trial by outlining the evidence they anticipate the complainant will present in court.
In a brief opening statement this afternoon, Prosecutor Lilly Gates indicated that the complainant, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, will recount an assault involving vaginal penetration and attempted anal penetration.
Gates also mentioned that the complainant is expected to describe instances of choking and slapping during the alleged assault, in addition to being derogatorily called a pig and urinated on.

Both the Crown and defense agree that a sexual encounter took place between Hoggard and the complainant in June 2016 in nearby Kirkland Lake. Prosecutors aim to establish that the woman did not consent to the actions that occurred and that Hoggard was aware of her lack of consent.
