John Krasinski named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2024
The magazine announced the actor-writer-director as its pick Tuesday night during The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The title of "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2024 has been awarded to actor, writer, and director John Krasinski. The announcement was made Tuesday night during The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Krasinski, known for his breakout role as Jim in The Office, has since gone on to star in the Quiet Place film series and lead the action-packed Jack Ryan series. In a lighthearted interview, he joked about his wife, actor Emily Blunt, promising to turn the magazine cover into wallpaper for their home.
Krasinski, now 45, shared that his first reaction to the honor was “just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” suspecting it could be a prank. He rose to fame with his role on The Office, playing the charming Jim with his signature floppy hair, and later transformed into a rugged action star in Jack Ryan, where he portrayed the iconic Tom Clancy character previously brought to life by actors like Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck. In addition to acting, he co-wrote, directed, and starred in A Quiet Place, which has since expanded into a successful film series, and during the pandemic, created the uplifting web series Some Good News.
This year, Krasinski also premiered his sixth directorial project, IF, a family film about imaginary friends, featuring Blunt in the cast. The couple has two daughters together, and Krasinski joked that this new title might mean taking on more household chores.
This accolade has a long tradition, with previous honorees including Mel Gibson as the first in 1985, followed by stars such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Michael B. Jordan, and last year’s recipient, Patrick Dempsey.
