When Jean Yoon was a high school student in North York aspiring to be an actor, she recalls considering demographic projections for the country and reflecting on how they might impact her future in the industry.

"I remember thinking that by the time I turned 60, there would be a thriving Asian-Canadian acting community, and I assumed that meant I'd be playing a lot of grandmother roles," she said.
