Leaders offer competing visions as Saskatchewan election campaign moves into Day 2
The Saskatchewan Party’s Scott Moe kick-started the race by promising broad-based tax relief to reduce personal income taxes.
Saskatchewan’s general election campaign enters its second day today, with the two main parties presenting different visions for the province.
Saskatchewan Party leader Scott Moe launched his campaign by promising broad-based tax cuts aimed at lowering personal income taxes. He stated that a typical family of four would save $3,400 over the next four years.
On the other hand, NDP leader Carla Beck is calling for change, criticizing the government’s handling of finances. Beck has promised to suspend the gas tax for six months and eliminate the provincial sales tax on children's clothing and certain grocery items, while ensuring no other taxes are increased.
Both parties have committed to releasing fully costed platforms before the election on Oct. 28.
