“With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Dame Maggie Smith,” her sons, Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, said in the statement.
“Though a deeply private individual, she was surrounded by friends and family in her final moments. She leaves behind two sons and five adoring grandchildren who are heartbroken by the loss of their remarkable mother and grandmother.”
The family also expressed their gratitude to the staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. “We are immensely thankful for their care and unwavering kindness during her last days. We appreciate your kind messages and support and kindly request privacy during this difficult time.”
