Man, 47, dies after being stabbed near hotel in Winnipeg
42-year-old man suspected in homicide was arrested nearby, police say
A man who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following a stabbing in Winnipeg on Thursday night has died, according to police.
Officers responded to a call near the Airport Motor Inn on Ellice Avenue around 10 p.m., where they discovered a 47-year-old man suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.
Police provided emergency medical care at the scene before the man was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
A 42-year-old man, suspected of involvement in the stabbing, was apprehended nearby, Winnipeg Police reported in a news release on Friday.
The investigation has now been taken over by the homicide unit, and the victim's family is in the process of being notified.
A news conference is scheduled for Friday morning to provide further details on the incident.
Earlier on Friday, the forensic identification unit was present at the scene, photographing a bus shelter near the Airport Motor Inn. Evidence markers were placed around the area, alongside what appeared to be items of clothing.
