A man in his 20s has been taken into police custody following a vehicle pursuit in Montreal.
At approximately 1 a.m., the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 40 East near Lacordaire Boulevard due to a "road safety code infraction." The driver, however, refused to pull over, prompting officers to deploy road spikes in an effort to bring the car to a halt.
The pursuit ended near Tricentenaire Boulevard, where the driver was arrested.
The SQ stated, “He will remain detained until he appears in court.” The man faces potential charges of fleeing an officer and dangerous driving. Additionally, it was revealed that the driver was not permitted to operate a vehicle due to a suspended license.
As a result, the vehicle was seized for 30 days, and the driver is expected to face multiple fines related to the incident. No collision or injuries were reported, though two other passengers were in the car at the time.
