31-year-old man was initially charged with committing an indignity to a human body
A 31-year-old man from Hemmingford, Quebec, who is already in custody in connection with the death of his partner, has now been charged with second-degree murder.
The victim, a 29-year-old woman, was reported missing on September 20.
Last Thursday, her body was discovered in a wooded area near her home, leading to the man’s arrest by provincial police on the same day.
He appeared in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse the next day to face charges related to committing an indignity to a human body.
The man is scheduled to appear in court later Wednesday to face the second-degree murder charge. A protest against domestic violence is anticipated to take place outside the courthouse.
