Man in hospital after fight near Montreal metro station

A 58-year-old man was taken into custody following an altercation that turned into an assault near the entrance of Montreal's Côte-Sainte-Catherine metro station on Wednesday night.
Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 10 p.m. reporting the incident on the orange line in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce area.
Upon arrival, officers found a 40-year-old man with upper body injuries. He was transported to the hospital, and his life is not believed to be at risk.
Authorities reported that the suspect attacked the victim with a blunt object.
The 58-year-old initially fled the scene but was located and apprehended by police around midnight.
According to police, the two men were acquainted.

The suspect was released on a promise to appear in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
