Members discuss a second Tory motion of non-confidence after the Liberals win the initial vote

These confidence votes come in the wake of the NDP terminating the supply-and-confidence agreement that had been stabilizing the government since early 2022.

Less than 24 hours after their first attempt to bring down the government failed, the Conservatives are making another effort.

On Thursday, the Tories introduced a new motion stating that the House of Commons has lost confidence in the Liberal government and advocating for policies to “axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget, and stop the crime,” echoing slogans the party has been promoting for months.

On Wednesday, a majority of MPs voted against the initial non-confidence motion tabled by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.

These confidence votes come in the wake of the NDP terminating the supply-and-confidence agreement that had been stabilizing the government since early 2022.

Meanwhile, the Bloc Québécois has issued an ultimatum, giving the Liberals until October 29 to pass two private members' bills—one on supply management and the other on old age security—or face the possibility of an election before Christmas.
