Peel Regional Police (PRP) have arrested four individuals allegedly involved in a viral incident where a woman was seen on video stealing a Porsche Cayenne from a driveway in Mississauga.
The primary suspect, 18-year-old Sarah Badshaw, surrendered to authorities on September 19. She faces multiple charges and had already been arrested earlier in the week by Toronto Police Service (TPS) in relation to another stolen vehicle case.
PRP reported that on September 18, officers recovered the stolen Porsche Cayenne along with a blue BMW X5, which is believed to have been used in the Mississauga theft. The BMW X5 had been stolen from Toronto.
Police charged 36-year-old Rainer Herschel Fernando from Toronto with two counts of possessing stolen property, possessing an automobile master key, and obstructing a police officer.
He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing. Authorities have released his photo.
Another suspect, 21-year-old Steven Giselle Lopez from Toronto, was charged with possession of stolen property and possessing an automobile master key. He was released under specific conditions, and his photo will be shared later.
Two youths were also arrested. One was found with a replica firearm and charged with possession of stolen property and breaching a previous release order. The second youth was charged with possession of stolen property.
Both have been held for bail hearings but were not named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
PRP believes the accused are part of a larger organized group responsible for multiple offences and expect to file more charges and identify additional suspects.
