Montreal-area commuter train lines to resume service Monday morning
Lines 11 Vaudreuil-Hudson, 12 Saint-Jérôme and 14 Candiac to get back on track
Service on three Exo commuter train lines serving stations in and around the island of Montreal will resume Monday morning, following a labor dispute between Canada's two largest rail networks and their employees.
The lines affected—11 Vaudreuil-Hudson, 12 Saint-Jérôme, and 14 Candiac—have been out of service since Thursday due to a lockout by Canadian National Railway Co. (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Ltd. (CPKC) of 9,300 engineers, conductors, and yard workers.
To mitigate any potential issues and ease expected congestion, Exo will continue to offer additional dedicated shuttle services.
"I would like to thank our customers for quickly adapting to the suspension of service on the CPKC train lines, which has been in effect since last Thursday," said Marc Rousseau, Exo's executive director of operations, in a news release.
"This service interruption, which was beyond our control, highlights the crucial role of trains in public transportation, and we are pleased to be able to resume regular service."
