Ottawa to limit low-wage temporary foreign workers in Canada
He said his government will also be looking at changes to the high-wage stream of the program.
The federal government is taking steps to limit the number of low-wage temporary foreign workers in Canada, with certain sectors being exempted from these restrictions.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this initiative on Monday in Halifax, where the Liberal cabinet is holding a summer retreat.
"We are tightening the rules and limiting eligibility to decrease the number of low-wage temporary foreign workers in Canada, except in specific industries such as healthcare, construction, and food security," Trudeau stated.
He also mentioned that the government will be considering changes to the high-wage stream of the program.
