Pair of schools closed Tuesday due to power outage
Both institutions are expected to resume normal operations on Wednesday.
A power outage in Waterloo on Tuesday morning has led to the closure of two local schools, Waterloo Collegiate Institute and Winston Churchill Public School.
The outage was triggered by a crash in the Weber Street North and Albert Street area.
In a statement, the Waterloo Region District School Board announced that all rental and extracurricular activities for the evening of November 5 are cancelled.
Facility Services and contractors are actively working to resolve the issue. During this time, both schools will remain closed to students and staff.
The board is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates with the aim of reopening the schools safely and promptly.
Both institutions are expected to resume normal operations on Wednesday.
