Singer Paula Abdul has cancelled her Straight Up! To Canada Tour dates.
On Wednesday evening, the 62-year-old announced the cancellation of her Canadian tour dates along with two U.S. shows.
In a statement shared on social media, Abdul explained that the cancellations were due to a recent injury requiring a minor medical procedure. She did not disclose details about the injury or the procedure.
“With a very heavy heart, I have to update you on some injuries I’ve recently sustained,” Abdul wrote. “While targeted injections have provided temporary relief, the demands of a full tour are a different matter.”
Abdul added that her doctors recommended cancelling the tour, as the required procedure would need six to eight weeks of recovery.
The *Straight Up! To Canada Tour* was set to kick off in Victoria on Sept. 25, with 21 performances scheduled across Canadian cities like Edmonton, Regina, Ottawa, and Saint John. The tour was supposed to conclude in Sydney, N.S., on Oct. 26. Abdul's shows in North Dakota and Alaska were also cancelled.
“I want to offer my deepest apologies to all my amazing fans in Canada and the U.S. — you mean the world to me, and this truly breaks my heart,” Abdul wrote. “I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we share when we’re together.”
She promised to return "stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon."
Refunds will be available to ticketholders from their point of purchase, Abdul said.
