Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulates Trump on his victory
'We look forward to working with president-elect Trump and his administration,' Trudeau says
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement early Wednesday morning extending congratulations to Donald Trump on reclaiming the U.S. presidency.
"Canada and the U.S. share the world's most successful partnership. As neighbors and friends, we are bound by a shared history, common values, and strong ties between our peoples. We are also each other's largest trade partners, with our economies closely intertwined," Trudeau stated.
"We look forward to collaborating with President-elect Trump and his administration on key issues such as trade, investment, and continental peace and security," he added.
Trump's win may bring challenges for Canada, as the incoming president has vowed to impose tariffs on all imports, a move that experts warn could significantly impact Canada's GDP.
