Women's league has yet to announce regular-season schedule, opening date
Training camps for the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) will begin on Nov. 12, with mini-camps for all six teams taking place in Toronto and Montreal.
The Montreal Victoire, Boston Fleet, and Ottawa Charge will hold their camps at Montreal's Verdun Auditorium, while the Toronto Sceptres, Minnesota Frost, and New York Sirens will gather at Toronto's Ford Performance Centre. Training sessions and pre-season scrimmages are scheduled from Nov. 19 to 22.
The PWHL announced on Tuesday that these scrimmages will be closed to the public. Training camp rosters, which were revealed on Oct. 10, can include up to 32 players, consisting of contracted players, PWHL draft picks, and free agents.
Final rosters for the 2024-25 season, set to be confirmed on Nov. 27, may feature a maximum of 23 players, along with up to three players signed to reserve contracts.
The league has not yet released the regular-season schedule or the start date for its second season. The inaugural season began on Jan. 1, 2024, with each team playing 24 games, followed by best-of-five semifinal and final series.
Minnesota claimed the first-ever Walter Cup on May 29, defeating Boston three games to two in the championship series.
