Quebecers give up going to see health professionals due to lack of access
However, there appears to be broad support (84%) for the idea of private healthcare if it is publicly funded.
A recent Léger survey reveals that nearly half of Quebecers did not consult a healthcare professional in the past year due to challenges accessing services within the public healthcare system.
The survey shows that 43% of respondents went without seeing a doctor during this period.
However, there appears to be broad support (84%) for the idea of private healthcare if it is publicly funded.
The data also indicates that 70% of Quebecers believe the private sector delivers healthcare more efficiently than the public system. Despite this perception, only 36% support the involvement of for-profit businesses in healthcare.
Additionally, the survey highlights resistance to paying out-of-pocket for healthcare services that are already funded through taxes, with 70% of respondents opposing the idea.
This survey was commissioned by the Confederation of National Trade Unions (CSN), reflecting ongoing debates about the future of healthcare in Quebec.
