Revenu Quebec union announces evening and weekend strike action
Professionals working for Revenu Quebec will go on strike evenings and weekends starting Jan. 18.
Revenu Québec professionals will begin an evening and weekend strike starting January 18.
The strike involves 5,850 workers, including tax auditors, tax investigators, tax collection and evaluation professionals, and IT specialists. These individuals are part of the Syndicat des professionnels du gouvernement du Québec (SPGQ), a prominent union independent of central labor federations.
Despite representing some public service professionals, the SPGQ conducts separate negotiations for this group of employees.
According to an announcement made on Wednesday, union members will limit their working hours to 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the strike.
This type of targeted action is not new for the SPGQ. The union noted that maintenance of administrative and IT systems traditionally occurs outside regular office hours to avoid disrupting daily operations. As a result, these activities are expected to face the most significant disruptions during the strike.
