It happened around 3:31 a.m., when fire crews received a call from Ottawa police who noted a vehicle had rolled over in the 3000 block of Frank Kenny Road.
More information given to firefighters included that someone was screaming for help. Downed wires were “all over the road” and the vehicle was starting to catch fire, a post from the department reads.
Once on scene, crews confirmed the sole occupant was able to get out of the vehicle on their own. It was on the west side ditch and on fire.
Firefighters quickly went to work extinguishing the blaze while being extra cautious due to the power lines around the scene.
Hydro officials arrived and cut the active lines before Ottawa police took over.
The fire was under control about 20 minutes after firefighters were called.
