Spotify users who enjoy the latest tunes will experience a price increase in December as the company adjusts its subscription plans.
In an email sent to Spotify Premium subscribers on Wednesday, the platform announced that starting from their billing cycle in December, the price in Canada will rise from $10.99 to $12.69 per month, plus applicable taxes.
The email explained that this change is intended to help Spotify “continue to innovate on our product offerings and features.”
According to Spotify’s website, the price hike affects all premium plans. Student subscriptions will increase from $5.99 to $6.39 per month, while the duo plan will now cost $17.89, up from $14.99.
Family plans will also see a rise, jumping from $16.99 to $20.99 per month. First-time Spotify users can still take advantage of a one-month free trial before the new pricing takes effect.
Spotify previously raised its premium prices for U.S. customers in June, and the last price increase for Canadian users occurred in July 2023.
Subscribers can still change their plans before the price hike, with options including a basic plan. Members are free to cancel their subscriptions at any time.
