Montreal police are investigating a suspected arson that occurred early Saturday in Verdun.
Authorities received a report around 3 a.m. about a fire at a depanneur on Bannantyne Street near Riverview Street.
As a precaution, the neighborhood was temporarily evacuated. The fire caused minor damage to the building, and police discovered an incendiary object at the scene.
The case has been transferred to a specialized investigation unit for further examination.
By Sunday, the store's windows had been boarded up, and damaged shelving units and displays were removed and placed outside.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
