Taylor Swift to play 1st of 6 sold out Toronto shows

Taylor Swift is set to kick off her much-anticipated six-show run in Toronto on Thursday at the Rogers Centre, all part of her record-shattering Eras Tour, the first tour ever to gross over $1 billion.

With each concert expected to draw tens of thousands of fans, city streets are set to be filled with Swifties throughout her performances. Tickets for Swift's opening show reached resale prices upwards of $2,000 as of Wednesday, though police have cautioned fans to remain alert for ticket scams.

Swift will also perform on Friday and Saturday, then return to the stage on November 21, 22, and 23. City officials anticipate up to 500,000 visitors over the series of concerts, which are projected to generate approximately $282 million for Toronto’s economy, according to Destination Toronto, an organization representing the city’s tourism industry.

In honor of the occasion, Toronto recently designated the path from Rogers Centre to Nathan Phillips Square as "Taylor Swift Way," with 22 signs along the route that will be auctioned off to support the Daily Bread Food Bank. Additionally, fan gatherings, such as "Taylgate '24" at the Metro Convention Centre, are expected to attract even more visitors.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has announced extra service for subway lines in the downtown area before and after the shows, and additional service for streetcar routes, including the 19 Bay, 509 Harbourfront, 510D Spadina, and 511 Bathurst lines.

For concert-goers, gates at Rogers Centre will open at 4:30 p.m., with the show set to start at 6:45 p.m. Rising singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams will serve as the opening act for all of Swift’s Toronto shows. Ticketholders are advised not to arrive or line up before 3:30 p.m.
