Provincial police have reported an increase in incidents of rocks being thrown at vehicles in the Markham area.
This follows a serious two-vehicle crash on September 20, which left two people with life-threatening injuries, believed to have been caused by a rock hitting a vehicle's windshield.
On the same night, around 10:30 p.m., police received two additional reports of rocks striking windshields of vehicles traveling northbound on Highway 48, just north of Elgin Mills.
Both drivers involved in these incidents were hospitalized with minor injuries. No further injuries have been reported in subsequent incidents.
Authorities have not yet released any suspect information related to the rock-throwing cases.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area of Highway 48 near Elgin Mills between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on September 20, and may have seen anything suspicious or has relevant information, dash cam footage, or surveillance video, to contact the Aurora OPP or Crime Stoppers.
